Lyn, 74, makes 3 aces a month! – Golf news

Lyn Parry, 74, has achieved an amazing golf record, enjoying less than three holes – one a month – in which an estimated 1.95 trillion to one!
Lyn, who started golf at the age of 58, made his first hole, and once had another 10 years later, both at his home club reducing the bill – in the 13th hole and in the summer and 11th.
But 2025 proved to be his most memorable golfing year to date, after an impressive 31 days in Devon.
He explained: “The first one (pictured below) was on the day of our Club AGM, the third hole at Wension Credicton. It was late afternoon, so I didn’t see it, I’m not telling you it was close!
“Because it was the AGM, I was very popular as it meant everyone who came got a free drink!”
Just 16 days later (Thursday 16 October), he was still there again…
“This time it was our Girls’ Day, and we saw the ball go in, on the 13th,” revealed Lyn (second ace in the photo below).
“We were all looking at each other like, ‘Did that just go in the hole?! There was a little bit of jumping up and down with the picture after that, so it was all drunk again!'”
Some people go a lifetime of golf without enjoying an ace, and on Thursday 30 October, Lyn celebrated surprisingly for the fifth time – and for the third time in a month (pictured at the top of the release). But the latter came as far as Down Credicton…
He admitted: “It was a social round with three friends at Tverton Golf Club and on their 12th hole, I hit one and I thought it would never happen again!
“Unfortunately after the round it was dark and no one wanted to hang around and the girls asked if we could keep the festivities for another day, so we didn’t go in – which is a tough guy isn’t it?!”
It’s not just the aces that Lyn has to shout about this year. The Handicap Index ® was 19.4 in May, but the summer of 2025 exceeded expectations.

He added: “The good thing is that my handicap has come down by almost seven shots – and I’m old! It shows you can’t go up too soon because it’s hard, but it’s been a good year!”
When asked about his goals in this game, Lyn said: “Let’s face it, I may not get better.
“You’re never too old. The beauty of golf is that it’s for all ages – I played a 15-year-old on Saturday, he played so well, I could have been better!”
Before heading off to the girls’ golf tour in Trevose, Cornwall, Lynn added: “Golf has always appealed to me.
“So, I thought I should get into this and see what it’s like. It’s a big social game and you learn a lot of independence, as it’s against the course, and the course is often round!
“I’ve made a lot of friends through golf and I think my message to women and girls is that it’s not just boys. Girls can just reach, so get it!”
