Ducks extend win streak to 7 with win over Jets – Hockey Writers – Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks were in their second game of a back-to-back when the Winnipeg Jets visited them at home on Sunday night. The Ducks were on a six-game hitting streak entering the matchup, with young players Leo Carlsson and cutter Gaarlsson and cutter Gauthier leading their team to victory.
The Jets were coming into Game three of a six-game road trip, but were about to win as the visiting team. The team’s leader in both points and goals, Mark Scheifele (20 points, nine goals), didn’t register a point in two games and didn’t want one in Anaheim. Cole Perfetti will be making his decision against the Ducks after suffering an ankle injury. Lukas Dostal will defend the net with the Ducks, shown by Eric Comrie on the other side of the ice.
First time
Beckett Sennecke fought hard for the puck to start the game, and his efforts were rewarded with a goal after a pass from Gauthier. Drew Helleson registered the second assist on the Ducks’ first goal of the game. Just minutes after the goal, Ross Johnston was called for a tackle, and Prisons had a chance to respond on the power play. While they had good puck and chances, they couldn’t score with a man up.

The Jets have their second play of the game after a tough call on Sennecke. The Ducks managed to get two tight ends during the penalty kill, and the Jets had a few kills, but neither team hit a two-minute penalty. The Jets took their first penalty of the game – a tricky pass on Logan Stanley. On their power play, Troy Terry passed to Carlsson, who fired the puck past Comrie to give his Ducks a 2-0 lead in the opening half.
The Ducks eliminated the Jets in the first period. They were perfect on both the penalty kill and the power play, played a more physical game, and had better puck control. However, the Jets outshot their opponent (9 shots on goal to eight) and were dominant in the face-off circle, winning 68.4% of draws.
The second time
The Ducks’ lead was cut in half when Kyle Connor hit one – Josh Morrissey and Scheifele assisted on the markers. Shortly after their goal, the jerseys were on the kill after a penalty was called on Dylan Demo. They held the Ducks to zero shots on goal during the kill.
SenneCke scored his second goal of the game on a rebound from Gauthier, restoring the team’s two-goal lead. The goal marked the rookie’s first game in goal in the NHL. Ryan Poehling took a holding penalty shortly after the goal, putting the Ducks up for the kill again. The Jets did not score with the man advantage.
Perfetti took a penalty for interference in the last few minutes of the period, and the jerseys had a successful penalty despite a good look by the ducks. The home team had 10 shots on goal in mid-range to the Jets’ six. With Anaheim holding a 3-1 lead going into the third set, Winnipeg will need to make some changes if they are to win.
The third time
Less than two minutes into the final frame, Haydn took a penalty kick to put the Ducks on their fourth power play of the evening. Carlsson was able to capitalize on a quick delivery, marking his second two-goal game of the weekend. Chris Kreider and Jackson Lacombe assisted.
The Ducks got fired up after Jansen Harkans delayed the game with a puck on the glass. They remain perfect because of the penalty kill. In the last minute of the period, Gauthier made a net break and hit the five hole; However, the game was offside and it didn’t count. Despite 10 shots on goal from the Jets, they couldn’t get any past the third period, and the Ducks took a 4-1 victory over the visitors.
The Jets continue their road trip in Vancouver on Tuesday, and the Ducks hope to keep their streak alive when they visit the Colorado Avalanche that day.
