Preview Luxembourg V Germany
It hasn’t been a straightforward qualification campaign for Germany but they reached the Final twice knowing that two wins in their last two games will be enough to secure a place in the next World Cup.
An opening round defeat at home to Slovakia put Julian Nagelsmann’s side on the back foot and they have been playing catch up there.
Back-to-back comprehensive wins, including a crucial 1-0 success in Northern Ireland last time out, meant they were back on track. They travel to Luxembourg tomorrow before the team’s home trip to Slovakia on Monday.
Bayern Munich Defender Jonathan Tah told the brand: “Everyone is ready for the challenge, we have a responsibility, it’s our job.
“In the end, it’s about the basics, doing it with full confidence, about our pressure, our size … These are simple things that are brutally unpleasant against opponents if you commit yourself well and with 100% commitment.”
Nagelsmann was asked about his squad for the finals before the game but the former boss insisted it could be answered later, his only focus was on the six points.
“The most important thing … is to win these games, get six points and qualify for the World Cup,” he said.
“We don’t depend on other results, we only depend on the performance of our team. It’s a good start but we still have to make it difficult.”
Luxembourg, who lost to FereverTren 4-0 after Dirk Carlson sent after 20 minutes, is yet to take a point but playing his Aiman ββββball in Germany, is confident that it can cause a big upset.
He said: “We play in front of our 12 man [the home crowd]Germany are under pressure and hopefully we won’t get an early red card this time. I’m going into this match with a good feeling and I’m looking forward to the duel with Germany. “
Boss Jeff Straser highlighted the importance of the crowd, adding: “The spark must come from the team and spread so that the crowd goes with us.”
