President Trump pardoned the NYPD Cop who was found guilty in the Federal Court Of Agent of China, even though he had two GOP operatives in his corner, proclaiming his innocence.
A federal jury found Michael McMahon, a retired NPPD Sergeant turned outside activist, guilty of organizing an outside rally after a two-week trial in June 2023
According to prosecutors, McMahon was a “critical member” of the Chinese campaign to intimidate Impiident Xu Jin, who was the former mayor of the city of Wuhan, and his family, and the ultimate goal was to force Xu to return to China.
McMahon was sentenced in April to 18 months in prison, despite prosecutors asking that he spend the next seven years behind bars.
The sentencing came Friday after Thump apologized to McMahon, following a police campaign led by his wife, actress Martha Byrne, and reps. Mike Lawler (R-Texas).
“Let’s Go Outside!!!” Byrne, who wrote a book about her husband’s case, wrote in X.
“Thank you @potus for FOLTING Mike McMahon – a decorated NYPD officer and the first investigator who was not prosecuted to begin with,” Lawler said. “I was proud to work with Mike’s wife @Marthabyrne10 to secure his pardon and release.”
The pardon was first reported by the New York Times.
Taxman and Sessions, both hawks who have taken a hard line against the Chinese Communist Party, signed a letter in support of Michael McMahon before his sentencing.
“Since being charged, Mr. McMahon has been steadfast in maintaining his innocence. We believe in his innocence,” wrote judge Pamela Chen in a letter filed by McMahon’s defense in March. “Since the beginning of this case, Michael has lost almost everything while never slipping in his declaration of innocence.”
The case was the first trial by members of the prosecution to prosecute a prosecutor for “Operation Fox Hunt,” the Chinese government’s heated effort to repatriate dissidents and prostitutes around the world, the Feds said.
This plot involved forcing XU’s elderly father to fly to the US and drop him off at Xu’s sister’s door on April 5, 2017.
McMahon, who was paid more than $19,000, was asked to dig up information about XU and his family. He checked out my sister’s house during an old man’s visit, all in hopes of tracking xu to his Warren, NJ, home, prosecutors said.
The Feds say McMahon realized he was working for the Chinese government when he sought Xu’s name — and he did a carefree job.

At one point, after Xu’s name was passed on to the co-conspirator, McMahon wrote one activist who was an investigator that he was “waiting for a call” to decide what to do next, according to the court.
“Yeah. It’s from the NJ State Police for getting fired,” another Pi went on, and McMahon replied, “lol.”
McMahon maintained that he thought he was working for a private company, and that he was “doing everything by the book as a licensed private investigator.”
