There’s a great golf outing, and then there’s golf they see. The latest Greg Evans travels through Porntejo and the Golf regions
A late afternoon flight from Gatwick to Lisbon is made for a power start. Within two hours of landing, we arrived in the chic coastal town of Intompiralooking at a stylish three-bedroom villa in Pestana Compartaa great base for golfers.
Day Two: Torre & Pinheirinho
Our first full day started with a Sunrise Drive to Brand-New Torre Golf Coursedesigned in Spanish Legend Sergio García. Although it only opens in October, it already feels like a contemporary, eclectic mix of rolling parkland and open fields, dotted with mature trees. The six Tee boxes ensure accessibility, but don’t be fooled: its wide fairways and the strategic search plan for strategic search and accuracy.
The signature 9th hole, Torre, sweeps gracefully across the valley, a hole you will remember long after you leave the green.
After noon, we headed to Pinheirinho Golf Coursewhere there were only players in the course. Designed by Rocky RoquemoreIts fairways wind through umbrella pines and wildflower roughts. The course combines challenge and serenity, with a strong focus on sustainability – limited use of chemicals, the flourishing of native grasses, and deep respect for the land.
An evening in Comparta is spent exactly as it should be: cupping local wine and dining in one of the city’s most up-to-date restaurants.
Day three: Dunas – A work of modern art
Just when we thought this trip couldn’t get any better, Dunas Golf Club exceeded all expectations. As dawn came, the course lit up in the first light, the dramatic formations carved into the natural dunes. Dunas seek intelligence and control in equal measure, and a deep groove that lives up to their reputation. Every dungeon can enter “Signature” Status here; It is a tangible and tangible pleasure.
“If you don’t like the course, you don’t like golf,” someone said. No one disagrees.
That afternoon, a Dolphin-Watching Cruise from the Troia Marina It provided a great contrast to the calm, gentle sea, body waves, and the sight of dolphins coming down the side of the boat. The evening was memorable wine tasting and dinner in Serenada Wine Resortwhere boutiques and wine bars (only 500-2,000 bottles per year) are made with care and passion.
Day four: Troia in Lisbon
The next morning we took him to Dume Troia Golf Cluba Robert Trent Jones Sr. design reporting the Atlantic Coast. The Par-4 3rd hole, with its view of the ocean, is one of Jones’ personal favorites, so much so that he included it in his “test 18”.

Day five: Farewell to Aroeira 2
Our last cycle took place in a recent renovation PGA Aroeira 2a Donald Steel design that has matured well since it was reopened. The courses are smart, organized, and of a high standard, equal to the extraordinary journey. We were also told that we will host the portuguese open in 2026.
As we hung out at the Aroeira Clubhouse, we thought about what makes this trip special: not just the excellent golf, but the effortless organization and warm hospitality that Golfkings brings throughout.
From the Torre’s promise at The splendor of the dunes and Troia’s Charmess Charmessthis was a trip that reminded us why Portugal remains one of the most rewarding golf destinations in Europe.
