Here’s what every player does

Adam Schenk knew the stakes.

After a poor season in 2025, the 33-year-old was just two weeks away from reaching the top 100 in the FedEx Cup Fall ranking to keep his card.

“I know if I can’t, I have to go to q school if I don’t get inside the top 100, so that’s a big motivator,” Schenkk said after his third round of the Buttuda Championship.

Schenk opened with a 69 at Port Royal Golf Course and followed it up with rounds of 65 and 67 to take a combined lead of 54 and Braden Thornberberde. Schenkk had just one top-10 finish during the FedEx Cup season and missed his final six cuts to finish 133D in the standings. Schenk made his first cut of the season down the stretch but did not finish in the top 20 in any of them. He reached Bermuda with 134 standings. His PGA Tour card was on life support for two weeks.

But Schenkk broke the windy conditions in Bermuda and put himself in position on Sunday in Bermuda to claim his PGA victory and take the two-year exemption that comes with it.

Sunday will be a difficult day for Schenkk. Earning a streak on the PGA Tour has never been easier. It’s more difficult the first time you try to do it.

But while Vornberry and other contenders struggled in the windy conditions, Schenk started his day with a birdie and a 13-over lead with four holes to play. Schenkk bogeyed the hard 15th, but set himself up with pars at 16 and 17 to take a One-Shot Ext in the 18th. Schenkk split the fairway with his shot, but made his way from the green to the back hole. He pulled the putter and curled his third shot down but it came up short, leaving himself with a cover, which was close to winning. It was fitting that the club that had been his biggest circle ‘heel’ had to wipe him out.

Schenk checked the putt, gave a deep exhale and curled it into the center of the cup. A fist pump followed.

“I’ve held multiple PGA Tour wins in my barn,” SchenkK told the Green Golf Channel after the win. “To actually get to do it — I’ve done it twice at Charles Schwab — but seeing that one go in was something I’ll never forget.”

With the winner, Schenk earns a two-year exemption, a spot in the players, a spot in the PGA Championship and a 1.08 win check.
