Dan Campbell defends isono rock over PI call

The Detroit Lions fell to 6-4 after a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that brought plenty of controversy in the closing moments.
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he won’t tell cornerback Rock Ya-isono to do anything different after he was shocked by the Eagles’ loss in Week 11.
Trailing 16-9 with just under two minutes to play, the Lions had a chance on third-and-8 to get back at the Eagles and shoot to tie the game.
It looked like they might get that chance when Jalen attacked and passed to Aj Brown that fell incomplete, but Ya-isono was deemed a senior to interfere in the brown color, giving the Eagles a game-ending down.
Collinsworth Slams Call
Replays show very little to suggest Ya-isono interfered with the brown color, with NBC Co-Collis Collinsworth being left with a penalty.
“Oh, come on…come on!,” Collinsworth exclaimed as he looked back. “” That’s bad! That is the worst call that will decide this football game!
“If anything, it’s offensive pressure! You want to call a foul, that’s offensive foul…
The loss dropped the Lions to 6-4. They are third in the NFC north behind the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. They are a half game behind the San Francisco 49ers, who sit in the last wild card spot, in the race for the playoffs.
The Eagles, meanwhile, are tied for the best record in the NFC, improving to 8-2 with the win. They hold a timebreaker over the top-seeded Los Angeles Rams in the conference.
Campbell defends YA-SINOS
Asked about the flag, Campbell defended Ya-SO S, telling the PostGame press conference: “I thought he played defensively like he did all game, man.
“I thought he challenged and he played it like he did the first time we played someone – so I’m not going to tell him to do anything different; stand up to your challenge.” Play your style. “
For his part, Ya-sono refused to criticize the officials, although he raised Brown’s status in the league as having played a role in the penalty.
“It’s a calling,” Ya-isono told reporters. “I’m a seven-year vet going against an All-Pro player like Aj Brown. You get those calls, you know what I mean?
“I’ve got to do a better job, just, I’m doing a better job, getting my head maybe maybe, or attacking the ball. The ref makes the call. That’s what it is.
“AJ Brown, really good player, PR-PRO player, sometimes, those type of players get those calls. So it is what it is. I’m going to do a better job.
“I let them go [the officials] do their job. I try to do my job. “
The referee explains the penalty for the Lions
Referee Alex Kemp spoke to reporters in the pool after the game and gave the official definition of the foul called YA-SINE,
“The officer saw the receiver’s arm grab and prevent him from going up to make the catch,” Kemp said.
“So, the ball was in the air, there was a catch on the arm, he blocked it and he called it pass interference.”
With shows showing very little contact with Brown’s right arm before the receiver used it to press into the YA-son’s chest, that explanation seems less plausible.
But the interference penalties were not returned, meaning the Lions had to accept the call and will now be putting it behind them as they look to find playoff motivation for the third straight season.
The Lions will be expected to get back to winning ways in Week 12, when they face the New York Giants at home.
