Adam Schenk survived bad winds at Port Royal Golf Coflour all week to win the Butterfield Bermuda Championship for his first PGA Tour victory.
Facing the shortest course on the PGA tour and wind gusts of more than 40 mph on Sunday, Schenk hung thanks to a unique bag setup outside the fairway woods.
In fact, his bag this week shows Gear Nerdom levels.
Let’s start with his eight year old G400 Driver. The G400 is one of the many benefits of ping and non-professionals who have had water for years. Schenk is one of the few pros still playing it, but Bernhard Langer is another notable user. He’s been using the new G40 G430 at times this season, but the trusty G400 got the call this week.
One thing. While Schenk isn’t one to try new gear often, he is one of the most famous gear changers on the PGA Tour.
The case is in the direction of this week his instrument set. At some point this year, he has used a complete set of ping i210s. But this week, he used those 2- and 5-irons and rounded out his set with a 6-PW on the mizuno MP-18 SC. Those factories were released in 2018 and 2017, respectively.
