Ducks complete last-minute comeback to win 3-2 over Mammoth – Hockey Writers – Anaheim Ducks

The puck dropped in Anaheim on Monday night when the Utah Mammoth visit the Ducks. The Ducks are fresh off a three-game road trip without a single win. Mammoth had a week up against Down before the game, winning one and losing two, and were joined by their mothers on this visit to California. According to Jeff Marek for Jeff, this will be the first game in NHL history with four Czech Goaltenders matching. Lukas Dostal and Karel velojmelka will match between the pipes, supported by Petr Gezek and Vitek Vavecek.
First time
About four minutes into the game, the Ducks’ Troy Terry took a minor penalty for tying, and Mikhail Sergachev took the same amount of time for a foul. The on-none play resulted in no goals.
Beckett Sennecke took a turnover penalty at halftime, and Utah had its first possession of the game, which they did not convert. The Ducks’ Jackson Lacombe scored his first goal of the season in stoppage time, with assists from Ryan Strome and Alex Tillome.
Just seconds after the goals were celebrated, Ross Johnston and Liam O’Brien battled it out, with Johnston taking his opponent to the ice. Both were assessed five-minute penalties. The period ended with just seven shots on goal in five possessions, and a 1-0 lead.
The second time
Lawson Crouse took the tying penalty early, giving the Ducks their first power play of the night. They did not evolve to a person-for-profit. It was a very quiet period, with no penalties or extra goals occurring in about 14 minutes of play.

However, Dylan Guenther tied the game with less than two minutes to go, assisted by Nate Schmidt and John Marino. The mammoth time response will create a different hockey game heading into the third period. They had seven shots on goal in the middle order; there were nine ducks.
Third period and extra time
The mammoths went up 2-1 when Logan Cooley fired a one-timer past. Sergachev and Nick Schmaltz assisted. No penalties occurred in the final period. Just when it looked like Hope was lost to the Ducks, a Terry layup from Chris Kreider and a cutter Gauthier with just four seconds left sent the game into overtime.
It didn’t take long for the Ducks to rally and finish off their winning run. At 1:50 we went into extra time, with Silnecke and Senneke working together to get the puck to Olen Zelloleger, which he drilled into an open net behind Vejmelka. Against all odds, the Ducks picked up a 3-2 victory to start their six-game homestand.
The Mammoth will play again tomorrow against the San Jose Sharks before returning home. The Ducks are set for a visit from the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.
