Ex-Liv Prons Find New Homes (and 9 More Stories!)

Welcome back to Finals Monday, when it’s always golf season no matter what the USGA says. In golf news!
10 golf stories this week
We have a one handed putter. A hand-cranked chipper. Lambo. A boy leaving liv. A bunch of guys joining the PGA Tour. We got season two after the US (Shoutout Stewart cink) And two more coming this week. We have content, content against content and content against content. Here are 10 golf stories in the Swirl this week.
1. Putting two hand held dead.
The issue: Okay, that’s a surprising title. But Adam Schenk He won his first PGA tour event, the ever-open Butterfield Burbelield, in remarkable fashion.
The win was the biggest in Schenkk’s career; He rose to the occasion of the changeable, windy conditions and survived all the gloriously quirky challenges of Port Royal on the way to defeating the stroke. Schenk felt proud of his victory but also instead of organizing Q-School he could write off the next two years as a member of the PGA TOUR. All good.
But from the point of view of Golf-World – The biggest thing in the world with the darkest thing about Schenkk’s victory is the kind of way he puts it when he leaves, finding something new in his hotel room. He put one hand where it was not a big wind. He finished his five-foot win with his left hand resting on the edge of the hole under his grip. I found this whole thing inspiring and know yourself; Asked about his PUTT on the 72nd hole he gave credit to his hotel room (“left a little to the right when I putt in the window”) and shared his process:
“I was in my hotel room doing it one-handed. I’m like, ‘One-handed won’t work because we’ve got a wind problem with the weather station app. It’s going to be indeed the wind. ‘
“So I let my left hand rest more. The only thing you can do is trust it, if it goes in, it can throw it, it goes well, it can miss it quickly but don’t sit there and think about it forever.”
What does it mean: We are not just in the mallet-putter era but the broomstick-putter era, the grip-action era, the hand putter era. The questions “Are you willing to be seen busily” and “will you make more putts” seem to have more embellished answers.
2. Rory did everything.
The issue: Rory McIlroy Missed out on a playoff spot at the DP World Tour Championship this weekend but his sprint finish was more than enough to earn him the big prize: a seventh Race to Dubai title and fourth in a row. That puts him at seven for his career, one of beterosteros and Colin Montgomerie.
What does it mean: MCICROY won everything it wanted this year. Okay, that’s not the case indeed honestly. He would have wanted an open tournament win at Royal postrest more than anything. But McIlroy has made it clear what is important at this point in his career and that is winning in places that are available on organic grounds, winning meaningful tournaments and winning cups in other countries – especially on foreign soil. He also talked about wanting to chase Montgomery in his quest to become the greatest golfer in Europe in modern history.
So this year’s submissions – the siggie at Pebble Beach, the Grand Slam tournament, the Irish home game, Ryder’s race to Dubai – checked a hell of a lot of boxes.
“Since you’re still playing, you might have hurt a lot to do it too much. But yes, there are times when I find myself thinking about my place in this game and where I’m going to end up. “And, as a 36-year-old, hopefully with many years left in the tank, I don’t think about it too much. But yeah, you can count that up to this point, it’s been a good run.”
3. Matt Fitzpatrick turned it around.
The issue: Math Fitzpatrick It didn’t exactly cut it for the men’s team every week, but earlier this year he fell well short of his lofty standards. He fell short of his long season, fell out of the top 100 rankings at Matagolf’s Ravings and was a question mark to make the European Cup team. But when the summer hit, fitzpatrick did it again: Starting the last week of June he released eight of eight or better in 12 victories.
What does it mean: It means that hard work has continued to pay off for Fitzpatrick, who has left no stone unturned in his continued pursuit of low numbers. It was fitting that he went up-and-down to win a meeting played with his determined character in the same week as Schenkk. Golf is about many things but most of it is about working until you find what really works.
“It was the lowest I’ve ever been out on the golf course, and obviously that’s when it felt like things had to change,” Fitzpatrick said. “It’s easy to say now that the only way to go is from there, but that’s easier said than done.
“To end the year and win this tournament is very special, and I really want to make sure I enjoy it a lot.”
4. The grant of Linn rejoiced and triumphed. It is not clear which came first
Issue: Linn grant Annika won, especially cool was given to her and sorenstam both in Swedish. It was his second win on the LPGA Tour and the first of what he called a “rollercoaster” year.
What does it mean: It means that Grant has found at least one week’s answer to the riddle of life as a professional golfer. Asking how he bounced back from so many missed cuts this season, he found a passion for himself and his process that I found fascinating:
“I don’t know, to be fair,” she said. “Golf and this lifestyle is always a rollercoaster of trying to figure out how to get better. Sometimes it’s about taking a step back and maybe being happy, ‘Am I happy? Am I making decisions that make me happy?’
“Sometimes that’s what makes golf so easy. You have to be kind of tough and rely on those decisions to be able to say, either I’m not making you happy, or I’m making you happy, or I’m changing your techniques to be fair.
“For me this year I think it was really big. Like I had to change a lot of things in my plans, things that I thought could do something that they are doing well because other people are doing it instead of thinking like that and a better player?'”
5. This lpga pro made an ace and won a lambo – and much more.
The issue: Broke Matthews doing his first job Ace really counted. A 9-iron from 143 on No. 12 at Pelican Golf Club came with a two-year lease on a Lamborghini Urus and a $20,000 donation to management. It also placed him inside the top 60 in the CME Globe competition, making this the first time he would qualify for the season-ending championship.
What does it mean: Sometimes golf is about inner satisfaction and sometimes golf is about expensive expensive cars and sometimes it’s about both.
“It was wild. All week I was like, ‘I want to win the Lamborghini,'” Matthews said. “I still can’t believe it. I’m out. I can’t wait to watch it on film because I really don’t remember you anymore.”
Here you go, brooke:

6. The PGA Tour just got 10 new faces – including the Braves
Issue: The end of this era of the DP World Tour has been completed by 10 PROS who have recently received PGA cards for the 2026 season. A surprising list that includes No. 2 in the standings The laurie canterprovisionally won the DP world tour for the second straight season and found some Post-Liv success; He will now become the first ex-liv golfer to earn full PGA status. Sean Zak It has more:
What does it mean: It is easy to return to the PGA tour from LIV if you start with an empty slide; Because the canert wasn’t a member of the PGA Tour to begin with it got the same level of pesky suspension.
And, a lot of these people these people seem to be very good, and – including Rasmus neergard-petendenwho finished eagle-birdie-par-birdie-birdie to clinch T3 and a soft ninth.
7. Henrik Stenson is back
The issue: Back on the DP world tour, that is. The Swedish Major Champ was awarded Liv Golf and the Majestic Dull team. Good reporting from bunsemered, he paid his outstanding fine (or liv in his name) and will be released from the “legendary” category. And he plans to play the first tour since he resigned in 2023.
What does it mean: In 2022 Stenson slipped to become the chief of the European Cup. It’s jarring to think about the sliding-sors moment that happened when he refused Captain What happened next was that Luke Donald took his place, led the team to victory in Rome and New York, entered a new deck of respect in the world of golf and undoubtedly made a lot of money in the process.
I can’t guess how STEDON feels now about his decision to leave; I’m sure it was complicated and still is. But it will be interesting to listen to him demonstrate the process if we see and hear more from him in his old state in the coming months.
8. The Lapga Rookie announced his arrival as the other two announced their departure.
The issue: This is the time of year for endings and new beginnings. So as a 24 year old Miyu Yamashita LPGA’S LOUISE SUGGS ROOOOOOKIE FOR AWARD OF THE YEAR, Elizabeth Shokol and Caroline Inglis Bid an emotional farewell to the tour as they each announce their retirement at the age of 30 to 31, respectively.
What does it mean: Retirement seems to be coming too soon for some LPGA Tour PROS. Beth Ann Nicholswho covers the LPGA in more depth than anyone in the world, has written about the practice; It will be interesting to see if the Offseason includes any more surprise announcements.
9. The Internet I Invited was a strong winner.
Issue: I wrote a lot about this here but the Internet invitation was an interesting thing to tell the stories of golf, it was interesting and emotionally connected on various levels, it seemed to be really hurtful, I was very happy in various chapters.
10. The NFL is just about golf.
The issue: Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield’s Pre-Sunday Smack-Talk is all about golf.
“Baker wears two golf gloves, so he’s kind of a man,” Allen said in the lead-up.
“Listen, I respect you Akshay Bhatia But I’m not wearing two gloves,” Mayfield clarified in another interview.” I might be able to cope [Allen] Pregame. “
What does it mean: The NFL may be king – but the events are busy with golf. We are in a beautiful place in this corner of the world.
News from Seattle
Monday finishes HQ.
Official: As my Washington Resident official handicap scores are closed for the season. While I don’t really have an offseason training plan to reverse years of solid weight loss, I’m itching to develop one. Stay tuned.
See you next week!
