Forested hills rose behind the storm

September 26, 2024, was a day far off the coast of Augusta, Georgia, it won’t soon forget. Hurricane Helle swept through, leaving its community devastated and devastated, parts of which are still recovering today. The Bobby Jones links – Forest Hills Golf Course – suffered its own unique fate.
The Donald ross course designed by Agugavi University, and where Bobby Jones won the Amateal Southeast in the same year he won the Grand Slam, it closed with great joy and produced great joy in October and reopened on October 1 scheduled. Just a few days later, the storm hit. At least 1,500 trees were down, with debris scattered across the property. Course workers, many of whose homes were damaged, worked overtime to clean up, two tree companies were involved, and within six weeks, the course was reopened. Today, with a few small projects remaining, the forested hills are flourishing again.
“The whole team was pulled together to get this job done,” said Bobby Jones Associates Vice President of Operations, and President of the Georgia Section of the PGA of America. “It was a collaborative effort. First, the team in this area quickly found contractors to assess the damage to the visitors when they were safe. There they would be able to look at the best courses. As we can imagine, cleaning in those areas around these courses was almost a six-month process.”
Extensive course damage was then caused by the equipment needed to remove the trees. The repair of the reserve road was immediately prioritized, so that it is safe to walk around the area, while irrigation systems are temporarily put on the back burner because the course does not need to run water in winter. Once it warms up though, more watering damage is found. Therefore, the superintendent of the course and the staff have spent time separating the necessary areas, fixing them, and playing “whack-a-mole” there, according to some practice.
“On the bright side, the community was very supportive and happy to have the backwoods hills open and feel normal to be out there and play,” the agreement said. “They love the fresh greens, and the course reopened in great shape. We’ve had great feedback from both guests and members, and that helps provide community members who say they’re very happy the place is back.”
During the week of the Masters it is very important for the annual finances of the club, see that there are many things for the eyes on the hills of the forests in April – only putting the pressure to provide good playing conditions. Also, it is the home of August in August University’s Golf Team, who was behind Ncaa Division 1 In 2010 and 2011, which also hosted the main college event on the course in April. “
Forest Hills Golf Course has been around for a long time – its opening in 1926 predates Augusta National, so it has quite a bit of history. “The golf course has been going for a long time and going nowhere. Not even a devastating storm will keep this great August course going for long.”
And that is more than obvious now.
