Liverpool v psv eindhoven: line-ups, stats and preview

Liverpool take on PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday in the Champions League.
Liverpool v psv eindhoven preview
Liverpool will be hoping the Champions League provides a little respite for their home fans when PSV Eindhoven visit Infield tomorrow night.
The Myrseysors were crushed 3-0 at home by Nottingham Forest on Saturday – their sixth defeat in seven Premier League games – and finished the weekend in 12th place in the top flight.
It was a big cry from their all-conquering display last season which saw them walk away with the title in their first year in charge. There is no suggestion the Dutchman’s career is under immediate threat but progress at Europe’s elite club Clunce – and the financial rewards that come with it – will be considered worthwhile.
Liverpool are eight ahead of Tuesday night’s games – clinging to the last automatic qualification spot – where I’ve got three of their four games, the only one being Galatasaray in Istanbul.
Former Liverpool striker David James believes the Champions League has taken on extra importance given that it will be easier to contend with and easier to win than the Premier League.
“I believe the players they signed could be good, but I was one of those who expected them to stay well on the move,” said James Radio 5’s Podball Daily Podball.
“The test of ARNE Slot as a manager is whether he can turn this around. Winning the title this season does not make it a bad time.
“He’s already ticked that box if we look at the big picture. The Champions League is now the most important thing and winning will define everything this season.”
They will not go directly to the PSV team that will come when they feel the opportunity.
Peter Bosz’s side are at the top of the Eredivisie with six points from Feyenoord in their last seven league games. They were unable to replicate that form in Europe, winning their first of four top-flight fixtures, and defeat at Anfield would be a significant boost to their promotion hopes.
Liverpool v psv eindhoven team news
Liverpool will once again be without the return of Jeremu Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong, which means Dominik Szoboszlai will continue to take off.
Florian WIRTZ is also a big doubt after losing the forest game.
Slot must decide if he can stick with shooting foul Alexander Isak or turn to Hugo Ekitike in the attack.
PSV, who won at NAC Breda at the weekend, have no new injury worries but Ruben van bommel and Alassane Plea remain limited.

PSV may be strong in the eredivisie but it is a weak league and liverpool should have enough here. It won’t be pretty but we like the home side to get the job done.
