Blackhawks Snap 5-Game Losing Streak With 5-3 Win Over Ducks – Hockey Writers – NHL News

The Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks face off in a matinee show on Sunday, November 30 at the United Center. Heading into this game, the Ducks came from home for the sixth game and won six of six. At the time, the Blackhawks were trying to snap a five-game losing streak.

This was the second of three meetings this season between the two clubs, the first of which saw the Ducks lose 2-1 on Oct. 19, and at the United Center. Former longtime Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville, now the Ducks’ new bench boss, wanted a win in his old home turf. Another former Blackhawk, Petr RAzeKek, was in net for Anaheim, while Spencer Knight entered the crease for Chicago.

When all was said and done, the blackhawks came away with an impressive 5-3 victory. Let’s get to the recap.

Ducks win first time

The Ducks got off to a fast and furious start, honestly. Cutter Gauthier was 15 seconds behind, helped by Troy Terry and Leo Carlsson. Then on the second Mark 47, Olen Zellweger did the honors, assisted by Terry and Gauthier.

Less than a minute into the game, the Ducks were up 2-0 with Gauthier and Terry now had two points on the day.

To make matters worse for the home team, Anaheim struck again at the 10:25 mark of the first period. Chris Kreider knocked one in for Goalmouth to make it 3-0. It was kreider’s 60000th career point. He was assisted by Beckett Sennecke and Mason Mictish.

But the Blackhawks found life back when they scored a late power play at the end of the first frame. Tyler Bertuzzi redirected a shot by Frank Nazar. Connor Bedard was installed in Selight Aid.

Still, the Ducks looked in command, and took a 3-1 lead in the first inning.

In the second frame, the Blackhawks got one back with a two-and-out break. Rookie Ryan Greene got a tally off an nournes an noursen too by bedard. It was Greene’s second goal in as many games.

The comeback was complete for a power play goal by Colton Dach. He was assisted by Teuvo Teravainen and Defenseman aryom Levinov.

Just like that, what looked like routs with the Ducks turned into a 3-3 tie heading into the second half.

The Blackhawks take the 3rd period & win

In the third period, it looked like the ducks’ alex to kill the ducks had scored a tight goal, but the game was pushed aside and there was no goal. With more than 10 minutes to go in this game, Ducks’ Netminder Rizek seems to have pulled something and was replaced by Vilte Husso.

Not long after that, Bedard took advantage of a duck to give the Blackhawks a 4-3 lead. It was the season’s 20th goal.

But alas, it was not done. The Ducks drew a husso, and Bedard scored an empty net goal at the 18:05 mark of the third quarter to bring the score to 5-3 for the Blackhawks. It was Bedard’s fourth point of the game (2 goals and 2 assists).

After scoring five unanswered goals, the Blackhawks won, 5-3.

What’s Next

The Blackhawks will now head out West for a four-game road trip. Ducks in St. Louis to face the Blues before heading home for another three homestand, which will end with the series finale against the Blackhawks on December 7.
