The 2024/25 campaign was the worst in Manchester United’s modern history as the English giants plummeted to a new low. Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag in November but he failed to have an impact with United’s form worsening under the Portuguese boss. The joint-most successful club in English top-flight history lost 18 times in 38 games, winning just 11 as they recorded their lowest ever Premier League finish in 15th place.

The one silver lining throughout the season was their Europa League campaign but that ended miserably as they lost to Tottenham in the final to miss out on Champions League football. United’s transfer budget will be majorly affected by not qualifying for European football and there will be a major overhaul of their squad this summer. With United already securing the signature of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, we’ve analysed the market value of their current squad and how it changed across last season.

How valuable is Manchester United’s squad?

After Transfermarkt’s English Premier League market value update at the end of May, Man United’s squad value dropped by €56 million to its current total of €643m. Amorim’s squad valuation was overtaken by Newcastle United with the Red Devils now the seventh most valuable squad in England. United began the season as the sixth most valuable squad in the Premier League at €818m but it dropped by €175m (21.4%) across last campaign.

In a sign of their current plight, Man United don’t have a single player in the top 25 most valuable stars in the Premier League. But that will change when Cunha officially joins on July 1st with the Brazilian international currently valued at €60m and he will become Man United’s most valuable player. United’s current most valuable player is Leny Yoro at €55m with Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo valued at €50m – Marcus Rashford is also valued at €50m and will return to Old Trafford this summer when his loan deal at Aston Villa expires.

Manchester United: Biggest market value winners and losers

During a disastrous season, Amad Diallo was a bright spark as he proved that he’s ready to play a major role under Amorin next season. The Ivory Coast international started the season with a valuation of €18m but that increased by €27m to his current valuation of €455. Not many United players received upgrades across last season but Patrick Dorgu enjoyed a €13m rise to reflect the €30m fee that United paid for him. As the graphic below illustrates, Yoro and Harry Amass received €5m upgrades with Toby Collyer marginally behind them.

The Danish international scored just four goals in 32 league games and seems destined to leave this summer. Despite having a decent individual season, Matthijs de Ligt dropped by €27m but that was mainly due to the defender being overvalued in the Bundesliga. As the graphic below illustrates, Bruno Fernandes, Joshua Zirkzee and Luke Shaw all dropped by €20m.
