The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A is the latest league to receive a market value update on Transfermarkt, and once again, the spotlight in Brazil is on some of the world’s best young talents. At the very top remains Chelsea’s future prospect and Palmeiras star Estêvão. The 18-year-old attacker has already scored 26 goals and provided 15 assists for the first-team, and has managed to increase his market value by a further +€5 million to €60m. The teenager will sign for Chelsea in the summer for a fee of €34m, and he’s now worth €35m more than any other player in the Brazilian top-flight.
“The time has come for Estêvão to shine on the international stage,” explains Transfermarkt Brazil Area Manager Marcos Watts. “As Palmeiras take on the FIFA Club World Cup, the youngster will have the opportunity to showcase the talent that has had us all buzzing for two years now in South America. He leaves Brazil on a high note, adding +€5M to his market value, having proven he’s not just potential—but the real deal.” Estêvão’s new €60m value equals the Brazilian Serie A league record value that Endrick had before he left Palmeiras for Real Madrid in 2024. “Estêvão’s performance at the Club World Cup could determine whether or not he’ll be an instant starter for Chelsea next season,” added Watts.
Yuri Alberto & Liverpool target Wesley among other biggest winners
The biggest winner of the entire update was in fact Corinthians centre-forward Yuri Alberto, who saw his market value rise by +€6m to a new value of €22m. “This feels like the perfect moment for Yuri Alberto to return to European football,” revealed Watts. “More experienced and mature, he’s now in a stronger position to thrive in a top league and show the growth that’s been evident in his game since his first stint abroad. The upgrade illustrates how everything in Alberto’s game has massively improved during his time at Corinthians and a move back to Europe now seems perfect.” Alberto was the top scorer in the Brazilian Serie A last season with 15 goals in 29 games.
Another young talent to receive a significant upgrade was Flamengo full-back Wesley. The 21-year-old has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool. “Wesley’s raw talent and relentless drive earned him a place on many of the top-five leagues club’s transfer wishlists, a spot in the Brazilian National Team, and of course a +€5M upgrade,” explained Watts. “His rise at Flamengo hasn’t gone unnoticed as he continues to develop, and a move to a top European side seems like a matter of time.”

Neymar hits lowest market value since 2010
When Brazilian superstar Neymar made a return to his boyhood club Santos from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, it seemed somewhat a fairytale ending to an illustrious career, but it hasn’t quite panned out as he would have hoped. “The dream of a Neymar return to Brazilian football became a nightmare after the Santos star picked up new injuries, barely making any impact at the club,” said Watts. The 33-year-old has made just 12 appearances since his return, and was sent off in his most recent (and what could be his last) match, after a ‘Diego Maradona-like’ handball led to a second yellow card.
No player in the entire division saw their market value decrease more than Neymar this June, with a -€3m downgrade taking his value to just €12m – the lowest it has been since he was a youngster at Santos in 2010. “Right now Neymar seems closer to retirement than a full return to elite-level football and the Brazil NT,” admitted Watts. “Despite flashes of brilliance, the physical setbacks and time away from top competition makes his spot at the 2026 World Cup increasingly unlikely. The -€3M downgrade in his market value shows that not only that his game is getting worse as he gets older, but also that Neymar seems less and less interested in displaying himself as a top-shelf athlete.”
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
