Jadon Sancho will be on the lookout for a new club this summer after Chelsea failed to agree personal terms with the winger. The Blues had a €25 million buy-option to sign Sancho permanently after his loan from Manchester United but the 25-year-old wouldn’t reduce his wage demands. Therefore, Chelsea will pay Man United €5m in a penalty break clause with Sancho returning to Old Trafford. Sancho posted a message on social media following the decision, stating: “Grateful for the experience. Big love to everyone at Chelsea who made me feel at home – teammates, staff and the fans. Wishing the club all the best moving forward. Truly grateful, thank you Blues.”

Although he will now return to Man United, Sancho is highly unlikely to feature in Ruben Amorim’s plans after making his previous unhappiness at Old Trafford clear. Sancho’s talent is unquestionable but his career has stalled significantly over the last few years and his options on the market could be limited. Sancho only has a year left on his deal, which brings more intrigue to his situation but United have a one-year extension option, which they are highly unlikely to activate it but they could to maximise a potential deal. We’ve identified five potential transfer destinations for Sancho this summer.

Five Jadon Sancho potential transfer destinations

Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Pro League appears the most likely destination for Sancho with several clubs already linked. Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al Nassr could all comfortably match the winger’s wage demands and Man United will be hoping that a Saudi club firms up their interest to receive a suitable transfer fee.

Newcastle United

Eddie Howe will be backed in the transfer market to bolster his squad ahead of their return to Champions League football. Newcastle United wanted to sign Bryan Mbeumo but the Brentford star prefers a move to Man United. Although Newcastle have Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes as left-wing options, Sancho can play on the right and could become a cut-price option.

Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund holds a special place in Sancho’s heart and a return is an intriguing prospect. The Bundesliga club won’t be able to match his wage packet at Man United, which makes a permanent deal extremely unlikely. United still owe Dortmund in excess of €20m for Sancho, so a deal could perhaps be worked out between the two clubs.

Bayern Munich

Unlike Dortmund, Bayern Munich could afford Sancho’s wage demands and Vincent Kompany could make a move. Sancho’s attacking numbers in the Bundesliga are incredible with 94 goal contributions in 118 games and a return to Germany could revive his career. Bayern have numerous talented wingers but there’s doubts over the futures of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnarby. Sancho trained with Kompany during their time at Manchester City and the Bayern Munich boss will be fully aware of his potential.

Inter Milan

Despite reaching their second Champions League final, Inter Milan will embark on a rebuild this summer. Simone Inzaghi has left Inter to pursue a new opportunity in Saudi Arabia with Cesc Fabregas the favourite to replace him. Inter’s squad is aging and that was highlighted in their demolition by PSG in the Champions League final. The pace of Italian football would suit Sancho but the questions would be over the finances involved.
