World Cup qualified, complete guide. Who could progress this week, what countries need each other and what is the playoff competition?
Twenty-eight teams have secured their place in next summer’s World Cup, including three teams, and many more will join in the next 10 days.
Defending champions Argentina, Brazil and England have led the heavyweight nations to already be ready for the world cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico in seven months but who could be close?
Here, we examine the state of play:
Europe (16 slots)
What teams look like going into international break.
The winners of the 12 teams qualify automatically. The runners-up qualify for a 16-team play-off competition that also includes the top four Nations winners who do not have two teams qualify for the World Cup.
The 16 teams will be drawn in four play-offs, each consisting of four teams, with semi-finals and finals in March 2026. The four winners will qualify.
Only England have qualified for the group stage so far, with Thomas Tuchel’s men going through Group K with six wins from sixth.
Who might be next?
France: We will qualify if they beat Ukraine on Thursday.
Switzerland: they will qualify if they beat Sweden, and Kosovo fail to beat Slovenia. Or, they draw against Sweden, and Kosovo loses to Slovenia.
Belgium: he will qualify if they beat Kazakhstan.
The Netherlands: he will qualify if they beat Poland.
Austria: they will qualify if they beat Cyprus, and Bosnia and Herzegovina fail to beat Romania.
Portugal: will qualify if they beat the Republic of Ireland. Or, they draw with the Republic of Ireland, and Hungary fails to conquer Armenia.
Norway: they will qualify if they beat Estonia, and Italy fail to beat Moldova. Or, they drew against Estonia, and Italy lost to Moldova.
Spain: they will qualify if they beat Georgia, and Turkey fails to beat Bulgaria.
North no Central America (six direct fields + two mobile fields)
What teams look like going into international break.
No team is eligible yet.
Who might be next?
Honduras: will qualify if they beat Nicaragua, and Costa Rica draw Versus Haiti.
Jamaica: they will qualify if they beat Trinidad and Tobago, and Curaçao lose to Bermuda.
Africa (nine direct spots + one single tournament spot)
Elimination of the group.
Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast and South Africa are suitable.
The best four team runners – Nigeria, Gabon, Cameroon and Dr Congo – Play this week to find one nation to participate in the playoff tournament.
Asia (eight direct spots + one tournament spot)
Elimination of the group.
Australia, Iran, Japan, Jordan, South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan are eligible.
Iraq and the United Arab Emirates Play-this week to find one nation to participate in the play-off tournament.
South America (six direct slots + One single tournament slot)
Elimination of the group.
Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay are eligible.

Oceania (one direct location + 1 single tournament location)
Elimination of the group.
New Zealand are eligible.
New Caledonia you will participate in a gaming competition.
What is a gaming tournament?
A newly created event will determine the final two skills.
Six teams will take part in the semi-Finals with the four lowest ranked nations in the FIFA world rankings. The top two teams will go directly to the finals.
The winners of the two cases will secure space in the US, Mexico and Canada.
