Who has lived up to their price tag in 2025-26?

There have been many flops in the top flight but not all new additions have been smashing…
Premier League clubs have completed spending records in the 2025 Summer Transfer Window, splashing out a combined £3Billion on new arrivals.
That number is £2.36bn spent by 2023, again increasing the financial power of the English top flight Flity Unmatched – more than the combined output of Laliga, Serie a, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga.
Among the headline moves was Alexander Isak’s Switch from Newcastle to Liverpool, Benjamin Sesko joined Manchester United for £67.5m.
Liverpool were the biggest sellers, investing £265m in Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez.
But barreling towards the busy winter season, we can finally admit that not all of these high profile numbers have made the desired impact.
101Sreatongools has drawn up the ten most expensive transfers based on their first campaigns in the 2025-26 campaign.
Alexander Isak: Newcastle to Liverpool (£125m)
Liverpool have broken the British Transfer Record to land Isak, but the Swede has endured a slow start. Limited to just 253 minutes in the Premier League, he only managed a goal contribution in four appearances.
Given his non-penalty goals throughout the past two seasons, his current form shows a noticeable dip. It’s safe to say that so far it’s been pretty clear.
Grade: D
Florian Wirtz: Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool (£116.5m)
Wirtz has struggled to adapt since arriving on Merseyside. Despite his stellar record in Germany, he is yet to record a goal or assist Liverpool in the top flight.
11 games may be too soon to judge, but so far, the 33-cap International has failed to justify his money.
Grade: e
Hugo Ekitike: Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool (£79m)
Contrary to his teammates, Ekititike impressed you at first. With six goals in 16 games – including three in the Premier League – the French forward is quickly becoming a fan favourite.
His only exception was a red card for a fine celebration in the Carabao Cup.
Grade: a
Benjamin Sesko: RB Leipzig to Manchester United (£73.7m)

Sesko’s debut at Old Trafford has been passable, scoring twice in 11 appearances. While the light of the possibility of his presence is visible, he will still be able to deliver regularly in key moments, and the ongoing difficulties under Ruben Amorim have not been helped.
Grade: D
Bryan Mbeumo: Brenford to Manchester United (£71m)
Mbeumo has shown signs of quality, the position is the most of the chances created and the goals are expected, and finally the goals are starting to come to the Cameroon International.
With five goals in 11 outings, the former Brenford man has been United’s recent leader.
Grade: B
Nick Woltemade: Stuttgart to Newcastle (£69m)
Tasked with restoring Isaka, Woltemade exceeded expectations. The 6ft 5in striker has hit the target against both his Premier League and Champions League targets and already has four goals in eight games. Signing a bargain with a great combination.
Grade: a
Eberechi Eze: Crystal Palace to Arsenal (£67.5m)
Eze’s arrival added creativity and flair to Arsenal’s Midfield. He provided an assist with his pull and it was placed into the seam, into Mikel Arteta’s side. However, he is yet to find the net despite many efforts, leaving room for much growth.
Grade: c
Viktor Gyokereres: Sporting CP to Arsenal (£63.5m)
Gyokeres do well against smaller opponents but lose in big games.
Six of the goals so far have come against teams in the bottom half of the table, and they will need to prove themselves strong opposition if Arsenal are to mount a title challenge.
Grade: B
Matheus Cunha: Wolves to Manchester United (£62.5m)
CUNHA’s impact is limited, offering only one goal and no 10 game areas. While he has shown flashes of ability, United’s slow start has hampered his progress.
Grade: c
Joao Pedro: Brighton to Chelsea (£60m)
Pedro has been one of Chelsea’s best players this season. With four goals and three goals already, he quickly became a key player under Enzo Maresca, dropping out amid injuries to other attackers.
Grade: B
