Barcelona Star Lamine Yamal is ‘Biggest Victim’ of Club Versus Row Row, admits Spain boss Luis Luis Luis De La Fuente

Luis de La Fuente says that the relationship between Spain and Barcelona can be improved by “both parties” and insists that Lamine Yamal is the “big victim” of the disagreement.

Yamal was sent home from the national team’s camp yesterday after it was revealed a medical test carried out by Barca – without the knowledge of the Spain Medical Team – meant he had earned 10-day Cup advice, Mbuse out of Georgia and Turkey.

It was the latest twist in a saga that has been running for several weeks and previously included Barca boss Hansi Flick accusing Spain of “not taking care of the player”.

Yamal flew back from Barcelona yesterday and De La Fuente said he was upset with how the situation played out.

He told the program of El Larguero in Cadena Ser: “He is the first person who is abused. He always wants to come. He left you sad, if someone says otherwise, he has bad intentions.”

Barcelona Winger Lamine Yamal

De La Fuente: Yamal was happy to play games

The Spaniard said he knew Barca had carried out a medical procedure on Monday morning’s injury but it was only when a full medical report arrived that evening that the winger was set to leave the club.

Asked how Yamal himself found out, De la Fuente said: “We went to his room and I talked to him. He was incredibly sad and very hurt. He was fine when he arrived.

“He is a player involved with the national team and he was very popular. He left very badly, he was very happy to play these games. He wants to make the Finalissima and the World Cup that they should look forward to.”

Spain is very likely to defend their place in the World Cup next week but the standing of Yamal threatens to skip the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico next summer.

It is left to the technical director of the national team, Director Karanka to hold talks with Bharca to ensure that the relationship improves.

De La Fuente said: “I know Karanka has been in contact with him [sporting director] Deco and Barça. More. We will have to talk more.

“Not only is there lamine, there are many barça players and there is no problem. The relationship is not deteriorating, but everything can be improved by both teams.”

We do not want to argue, insists the President of Barcelona Laporta

Speaking on Catalunya radio this morning, Barca President Joan Laporta defended the club’s actions and insisted everything was done by the book.

He said: “We told them [the national team medics] When we have a response from the doctor who examined him. Our doctors refer it to those of the Federation. We don’t want to argue.

“On Monday the specialist came, made a diagnosis and made a treatment. Barça wants to have him in a good condition and we want to get him.”
