Roslovic Scores Second Ot Onfer Ot Out Ouders Led Flyers – Hockey Writers – Edmonton Oiders
The Edmonton Oiders suffered their lowest score of the past 24 hours, down 4-2 in the third quarter against the Columbus Blue Jackets after being beaten by the Colorado Avalanche. But the magic of Connor McDavid and the bocky bounce allowed them to get extra time, where Jack Roslovic played the hero against his former team.
One night later, the Oilers got similar results, although their road was (mostly) smooth. They came back and met Roslovic after his goal ended, ending Edmonton’s three-game skid in the city of brotherly love. Their 2-1 overtime defeat of the Philadelphia Phillies was the result of reasonable 5-on-5 performance, but general finishing issues. That allowed the Flyers to recover in a sluggish last half to secure a point, but they couldn’t avoid their second straight OT loss.
Game clarity
The game started well even But while the oilers didn’t score on the power play period, it helped them hold the opening period. The shot was 6-5 edmonton when Nick Seeler took the tying penalty with 6:17 remaining, but finished 13-5 in favor of the visitors in 20 minutes.
Edmonton’s Frame Barrage also fought back with the game’s opening goal, though it didn’t come from its power play, which entered the night ranked third in the league. Instead, Connor McDavid planned a quick center that passed the cell to set up a one-timer evan bouchard, with an offensive defense that scored his third goal of the season just 55 seconds before entering.
That trend continued midway through the second, with 17 foul shots following consecutive shots when the Flyers finally ended a 19-minute dry spell. But after starting their dominance of the area with the man advantage, the two went the other way in the final five minutes of the frame. Owen Tippett used his speed to find the blue line to draw a penalty, and Matvei Michkov negotiated Sizsters Wrists. After scoring one goal in his first 13 games, Michkov has now received three straight, a new career high.
Although no goals were produced, the third period was marked by drama. The teams have combined power three times, including one for each in the first five minutes, and one late for Philadelphia when Treent Frederic ran to Dan Vladař. Then, when overtime came and went, Travis Konhecny looked to break the tie with a tip in the final 30 runs, only for Kris Konblauch (the Flyers’ assistant coach) to make a successful shot.
Just when it looked like the Flyers might have a chance to recover, the game went downhill. Trevor Zegras made a strong play on Jab Puck back to Cam York at the red line for a layup. But York turned his pass and quickly lost his balance, giving roslovic and Matthew Savoie a 2-on-0. The pair treated us well, giving the Oilers their third straight streak of the season and first since Oct. 21-23.
The Oilers have a quick turnaround to go, with their next game on Thursday against the Blue Jackets starting just 24 hours after this one started with a long 5-4 overtime win in Edmonton. The Flyers have Thursday, but they will be traveling on their return trip, visiting the St. Louis Blues and the Dallas Star
