The Colorado Avalanche hosted the Buffalo Sabers on Thursday night (Nov. 13), following their 3-1 win over the Sabers back on Oct. 13 in Buffalo. The Avalanche were looking to win their fifth straight game, while the Sabers looked to snap their four game skid. After the final horn sounded, the Avalanche claimed their fifth straight victory after defeating the Sabers 6-3.
Game clarity
The first 20 minutes of the game saw a plethora of goals, five in total. The Avalanche had their first lead, 52 seconds into the game, after a Martin NECAS play to beat Alex Lyon. Cale Makar caught the sabers, and Necas was able to get 11 points of his time. Arturi Lehkonen doubled the Avalanche’s lead five minutes later after taking an open foul, following a Sam Malinski Shot. Lyson made Gove, but Lehkonen was there to make it 2-0.

After a Bowen Byram goal cut the lead in half, Brock Nelson made it a two-point game. After some great tic-tac-toe pass from Gavin Brindlek to Ross Colton, which touched the Sabers player’s legs, he found Nelson in a high cell. Nelson, with a quick shot, made it a 3-1 game. Jordan Greenway Cut the lead to one goal and after a quick shot it went in with Mackenzie Blackwood. It looks like it just gained enough momentum to get infected.
The second period saw some goals, but only two this time. It took about 15 minutes before the first one was scored, and it was the Sabers that got on the board. After the penalty of Nathan Mackinnon, Thompson’s bone with a shot at one time found the past black to tie the game 3-3, after playing from the back of the game. However, not two minutes later, Brindley gave himself a high-scoring night, putting the avalanche back in front 4-3. After receiving a two-year contract extension and promotion to the second line, Brindley made a play for himself.

The third period saw two goals, this time both coming from the Avalanche. NECA got their moment after each stellar effort from Mackinnon to get him between the hoops. Assid Mackod Mackinnon point POINT reaching 11 games, and gave Necas his 12th goal of the season. The last goal of the game came with an empty net tally from Landeskog. After missing the net, NECA recovered the puck and, instead of scoring a hat-tricking goal, passed it to the captain to secure his second goal of the season.
The Avalanche pushed their point streak to nine games, and are now on a five-game winning streak. They are now 12-1-5 on the season and have won the first two games of their four homestand. Their next game is Sunday, November 16, against the New York Islanders. As for the Sabers, they are on a five-game losing streak and are 5-8-4 on the season. Their next game is Saturday, Nov. 15, against the Detroit Red Wings on the road.
