Welcome! Where are you, he asks. I’m calling this weekend 9. Think of it as a warm up for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will have thoughts. We will have some tips. We will have tweets. But only nine, although sometimes maybe sometimes and sometimes less. As for who I am? The paragraphs below tell some of the story. I can be reached at [email protected].
We could buy anything we wanted for a clubhouse. I left with a bag tag and a victim.
We were even allowed to take a cart up to The Tee 1st. The view alone was almost worth the drive west to Mullen, where the skyline never ends and cell service is lost.
As for rejection at that time, the one who let them go ten years ago at Sand Hills Golf Club went as often as we could hope for. We were taken for granted. They didn’t laugh. We did not complain.
But it was still too early.
I was thinking all this as the site recently released its new top courses in the world list – and the sand dunes were rated at No. 10
It doesn’t matter if it’s an Ultra Private course.
The Sand Hills, unfortunately, is not a place where you drive in and ask to play.
Or was it?
Maybe we can try that?
So my wife and I did it. We planned it. We went later in the year, when conditions can remove outside visitors. We continued with Nebraska football on Saturday, where the big red rules the hearts and minds of the state — and the golf courses are left empty. On Friday, we stopped in Gothenburg and played wild horse, which is a must play if you are very close. On Sunday, we got a couple of Pay-in-the-box courses – no place to cough, no court, just a box called Augugal Wind, yes the name, Yes, covers both lovers of the Masters.
Saturday afternoon, we drove up Crenshaw drive.
We parked. Three cars in the lot.
I offer $300 to play. Our pitch would be to promise you I won’t tell a soul. We will be in and out. No social media. There are no pictures. How could they say no?
Like this:
Sorry, no.
But we could buy anything we wanted from the Clubhouse. And we can take the cart up to the 1st Tee.

We did. We stared for about 15 minutes. He saw what seemed to be something hidden, but no one else. It ‘looked’ like one of the best lessons of this site. It smells like that, too. But we never touched it.
Is the trip stupid? No. I would do it again. And I’ll do it again, on another golf course. Maybe next time I’ll get a Yes.
Or maybe I’ll run into someone with an almost morbid discipline to turn down a guy, a girl and a few hundred. Actually that was impressive.
Let’s see if we can find eight more things for weekend 9.
One weekend takeaway
2. Is the announcement of the LPGA’s new TV channel – where every round of every tournament will be shown live – one of its biggest moments ever?
Yes.
But how will they retain viewers?
Is having a platform enough? Kind of. Notably, the PGA Tour is dealing with this. You’d think that golf would be a hit, but the message seems to be looking for something in what they see. So I would argue that new LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler says he recognizes all the diversity of ‘something more important to the tour like TV.
On Wednesday, before this week’s CME Group Tour Championship, Kesser spoke to reporters, and I thought this was interesting and ended up with questions (the reporter’s questions are watalics):
What do you think of the LPGA competition? And I think unfairly what I’m getting is how do you get the attention that women’s soccer and the WNBA get that golf seems to have taken a back seat?
“You used a very important word,” Kesssler said. “We compete in the attention economy. It’s not just against other sports. I have to be able to put on netflix, I have to share this place, so I have to be different from it, so it’s a cross-functional, to be fun, and capture the minds of the fans in every way we can.”
On the player side, what kind of message did you give them to get your oars in the water?
“I’ve had two player meetings,” Kesssler said. “First Play Meeting – And I’m so glad they did this. The players asked: ‘What can we do to help?’ The answer was: ‘Nothing yet. Let’s do our job, and when we have concrete answers, we will go back and ask for your time to do your part to do your part.’
In the LPGA program that will transform the tour, 1 goal stands above the rest
“This was last week at Pelican … They kept asking: ‘What can we do?’ And we said: ‘This is what we need you to do. If we ask you to be a world superstar, it depends. If we ask you to walk where you can.
“‘Come on – we need you to do your part.’ And finally I asked: ‘Who?’ And almost every hand in the room went up. Now it really does that for us in life. “
Another take on the weekend
3. The PGA Tour, meanwhile, may be down. Ahead of this week’s RSM Classic, Harris English said the tour could begin its schedule after the Super Bowl and “will continue where the 20 events are the same, all points, all money, all money, all money, all money, all money, all money, all money, all money, all the same.”
So what does movement mean, should it happen?
I guess it depends on what you like. You’ll find a bit of Pro Golf. But you’ll always get the most out of Pro Golf. But where is the church important? Or should there be a proper break?
Also, Liv Golf’s influence cannot be overstated. How many of these changes could have happened outside the league?
4. Speaking of Liv, the New York Times published a story this week with the headline: “Saudi Arabia’s CEO Has Big Ideas, But His Big Fund Is Low on Cash.”
You can read the entire story, written by Rob Copeland and Vivian Nereim, here.
A teaching tip for your weekend
5. Lindy Duncan was presented with the HOTRA FRART FRRREAnce Award this week, and the text of her acceptance speech is worth reading. You can do that by scrolling below. (Click on the white arrow in the middle of the post to see each slide.)
My favorite story
6. I thought the story below, from Skratch’s the “Vanity Index Podcast,” was interesting. In it, he caught Chad Mumm describing an interview with John Daly – how John Daly drinks.
“So John Daly, we were preparing in the green room for this speech,” Mumm said, “and we were talking about the speech of the others in the restaurant and I was like, ‘I was like, ‘How big is that?’ Like, Did you lean on that and tie it?
“And he’s like, ‘No, I brought in that I’m 9 years old. Sun tea. … and lemon. And Dad loved his vodka. And so, my parents didn’t get it. And then I mixed his vomade and I got everything full in there and we got a few glasses. So, We put them all up and each child took a shot of this confection. And it tasted good. So, we made another one and then we made another one with a group of 9-year-olds age.
“‘And I looked at my brother and I and I said, ‘If one of us is famous, we’re going to have to patent this drink. It’s going to be called Jamie Daly or John Daly. ‘ And that’s how it was invented. ‘”
You can watch the clip with mumm by scrolling quickly below.

7. Speaking of Daly, the place he used to visit every year during Kings Week, the Hooters located miles from Augusta National, was demolished this week. Below is a picture of some work.
This is a tweet I don’t want to send. This one is sad. Balldo hydozing the augusta hooters today. A ScreenCraps reader was stopped by historical reasons and sent us these gruesome images. Guys, it’s gone. pic.twitter.com/vskuyoruhp

My favorite question
8. I thought the video below was interesting. In it, MLB players were asked: Is golf harder than baseball?
A deal that I like
9. I thought the deal described below was interesting (and hats off to Forbes’ Erik Matuszewski for breaking it out first.) Pebble Beach, Pebble Beach,
– A ticket to the Super Bowl, which will be played at LEVI Stadium in Santa Clara
– Entry to the pre-match party
– Transportation to the game
– Super Bowl gifts
– A four-night stay in a suite in Spain Bay

– tee time at Pebble Beach or Spyglass Hill
The price? The room he lives in, is $18,460. For two, it is $14,750.
What golf is on TV this weekend?
10. Let’s do 10 things! Here’s a rundown of golf on TV this weekend:
– Saturday
3:30 AM-8 AM ET: PIF Saudi International Round, Golf Channel
1 PM-4 PM ET: RSM Classic Round One, Golf Channel
2 PM-5 PM ET: CME Group Tour Championship Cound Cower round, CNBC
– Sunday
1 PM-4 PM ET: RSM Classic Train Round, Golf Channel

Which email me
11. Let’s do 11 things! Here is an email I received this week:
In my opinion, the American team does not need to [Ryder Cup] the captain. Get someone to organize all the events the players must attend. As for the clothes, I’m sure Polo has the people to build the clothes.
Until golf, guys know what they are comfortable playing and who they play with, who plays well in different formats, who is better in each format, what needs to stay.
Finally, at stake, there may be competition or bragging rights where a certain player would like to choose the player they want to play. You can’t tell me some of the Europeans wanted to take Scottie down.
