This week on the PGA Tour, the displays often alternated. The circuit was playing its final event of the year, which meant it was the last event to secure playoff status for the following year. Winning the RSM Classic would have done it. Going to the top 100 points of the time zone would not have done, although the latest change of the number – it was 125.
Entering play this week, Hodges was 122nd. On Saturday, he said he wasn’t sure what he needed to do to move.
But he knew who to blame for his position.
“I mean, yeah, it is,” Hodges said. “As guys – I don’t know if I’m going to ruffle some feathers, but the guys who come in here and are kind because you’ve played, you know what it means this year.
“Same way with me. Like I’m where I am because of my golf, nobody else is putting me there. I put myself there. I put myself there.
“Yes, that’s where you are, but we all have problems so just do it, you know what it means where you want to go.”
The reporter then asked him what it means to be a tourist player.
“Yeah, I was telling my wife the other day, I’m from Ardmore, Alabama, and I’ve been playing on the PGA tour for four years and I’ve won,” Hodges said. “Like no one ever gave me that when I was ten years old.
“I want to keep it clear that it’s ongoing, I’d like to add more to my resume, but it’s been an amazing ride so far and I think it’s over for now, but I’m excited to see where it goes.”

Some may just pop up again – players based from 100 to 125 have a conditional playing status, and the upcoming Tour Q-School will issue cards to five players.
