The Dallas GM wants to keep Jason Robertson
The Dallas Stars made a splash last year in the last job when they acquired Mikko Rantanen from the Carolina defense. General Manager Jim Nill, who won his third Jim Gregory Award as GM of the year, signed Rantaen to an eight-year extension with a cap hit of $12 million.
When that happened, rumors started about Jason Robertson being shipped out of town because the Stars couldn’t make the money work under the cap. However, Nill has been AdAmalint despite rumors of him wanting to keep Robertson. That was his intention.

Nill reiterated the fact that he wanted to extend Robertson, just as he signed Rantanen to this big extension, as he told Scott op on hockey night in Canada after the Flames fell to the Calgary Flames 3-2 in the shootout.
“Yeah, that’s the plan. We’ll find a way to do it. We always have a kind of found ways. With him, too. A lot of things are going on, and he’s doing it for us, and it’s good.”
Robertson is a restricted free agent this summer for the Dallas Stars. So Nill is not worried as he is being taken out. On the season, Robertson has 28 points (13 goals and 15 assists) in 22 games. In his last seven games, Robertson has 15 points (10 goals and five women).
So expect Jim Nill to work his magic and shut down Robertson for a long time, as Dallas views him as a core piece moving forward.
No trade comes with a firm stance
