3 Takeaways from Strans’ 8-3 Win Over Oilers – Hockey Writers –

Best of luck with the 2025 Western Conference Finals. The Dallas Stars scored four goals in the first period en route to an 8-3 rout of the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night in Alberta. The Stars outshot the Oilers 30-25, went 3-for-4 on the power play, and used every opportunity to attack Edmonton’s defense.

The Oilers have struggled so far this season, but they just finished a great road trip, returning home on the heels of a 6-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Saturday. However, the stars smelled blood in the water, and they disappeared. Jamie Benn scored his 400th career goal, Jason Robertson can’t stop scoring, and everyone came to play on Tuesday night. There’s a lot more to come, so here we go.

Jamie Benn Finally Nets No. 400

Robertson could have had 10 goals on Tuesday, and we’d still be talking about Benn first. At 3:48 of the first period, he became the second member in the history of the stars to score 400 points, joining Mike Modano, and after being removed by the same oil, last night they felt poetic.

This was Benn’s third crack at 400. Last season, he had a goal called back that was supposed to be 400, then had a goal filled by a teammate at the last minute. So, in the end, this one counted, and it was everything. Benn also has 559 assists and 959 points in 1,196 career games, all with stars.

Robertson continues with the trucks

As I commented inside Stars in a Week Yesterday, in the meantime, I’m reusing Robertson’s content every time I put my hands to the keyboard. But, hey, it’s not my fault you’re looking at all the tears. I also predicted a few weeks ago that he would come out. I know, I’m pretty brave of me, eh? Robertson hit his seventh straight game on Tuesday, bringing his goal and point total to 17 since Nov. 11.

We know now that when he hits the puck a ton, it’s usually on purpose. In 12 games this month, Robertson has 53 shots, including three shots or less in only four games. Every night, he puts four, five, or six pucks in the net, making him the hottest liability in the NHL.

The Stars’ Victory Ouders take everyone out

The Stars came out of the first period with a 4-0 lead, but it wasn’t the big guns that helped end the game before it started. Benn and Roope Hintz scored the first two goals of the night within the first 11 minutes. Yes, they are important to the list, but they are not the main threats of the team.

Wyatt Johnston assisted on Benn’s goal, and Miro Hehiskanen and Robertson assisted on Hintz’s goal, so the big names were involved, but they didn’t score. Next up was Nathan Bastian, who scored two points, and a bell, marking the time.

“For guys like me, maybe you don’t get as many chances as some of these guys who cause a lot of damage, when you get a chance,” said Bastian after the game. “I don’t know when my next 2-on-1 is going to be, so I wanted to shoot, and it turned out.”

After Robertson and Johnston pushed for a 6-1 lead, and Evan BOUCHARD hit a cut for a 6-2 lead, Justin Hryckowian got into the action, and Bastian hit his second of the night. In all, 11 of the 12 so far scored a point, and seven of them had two or more points.

The Stars wrap up the tour in Seattle on Wednesday

The Stars wrap up their West Coast road trip Wednesday night against the Seattle Kraken, before hosting the Utah Mammoth on Black Friday. The Stars are 2-0-1 on this trip, 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, and improve their road record to 8-1-3.
