Jamie Carragher on Arne Slot, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah

Liverpool Legend Jamie Carragher directed his anger at the club’s players after the Champions League defeat at home to PSV Eindhoven.
Instead of blaming the red-hot manager, Carrageher feels that at the moment it is the players of the club that are letting everyone down, while he made the big claim that it looks like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are basically looking at the highest level.
Speaking on CBS Sports in the video below, Carragher hinted that he could not see a slot getting the sack, while insisting that he wanted to see more players face the fans after the club’s recent form.

Kharali said he was “furious” with Liverpool’s players, and suggested we are starting to see a glimpse of the club’s future now that key figures like Van Dijk and Salah are past their prime.
“Liverpool is not a club in the sack,” said the former LFC defender. “Liverpool is different from almost every club in European Football – the manager is king, the manager gets time.
“Liverpool have never had a league-winning manager. It’s never been their history… I couldn’t believe at the weekend that people were talking about the manager’s job, when I spoke to the manager’s supporters after the home loss at Nottingham Forest.
“I was always in the camp that you stick with the manager, I’m angry with the players if I’m completely honest.
“But it goes to the stage with any manager in any club where I always use this word “disloyalty”, where it sounds like it will not continue.
“I’ve had a lot of time to think about it because I knew that the game was over the limit.
“Alisson is very injured now, he doesn’t play that much. But you watch van dijk now, not the same player, and Mo Salah looks like his legs are gone.
“You always look to the leaders in your team to step up when things aren’t going well.
“But I don’t like to criticize them in the pit because they are complete legends of what they have done, and their legs are gone.
Carragher questions How fit are some of Liverpool’s players
Carragher added that some concerns go back to the past about how good some players are, suggesting that they have been taken too much by the excellent form of Van Dijk and Salah in the past, but now they are failing to go down.
“I’m looking at some of the others… Step up… you can only play well if they play well?” Carragner added. “Their seasons last season were below average and everyone was happy about that, winning the league, they’re all league champions, they have that on their CV, but when they’re not there, where are the others?
“That’s why I’m angry with the manager’s speech, but it’s inevitable, there’s a possibility, but realistically, but according to the players and the way they’re working now, that’s not acceptable for Liverpool Football Club.
“Actually I think and maybe I thought that this was the last little time – it’s one of them well enough if Liverpool wants to win big trophies, unfortunately, and they have been carried by some of the greatest players that the club has ever had.
“This is probably the shot of the future for Liverpool when Mo Salah goes forward, when Virgil van Dijk goes forward, and when Alisson goes forward.”
What do you think Liverpool’s problem is now? Does Slot need to go or is it a case of loading up some of these struggling players? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
