Arizona State’s dominance on display with 4-3 overtime win over Ohio State – Hockey Writers – NCAA

Arizona State went into the third period Saturday night wanting to summon the same sparks that had fired back 24 hours earlier.
Trailing 3-0 to Ohio State, fans were booing the exits and it looked like a Buckeye win. But somehow, it ended like that, head coach Greg Powers’ was able to complete a 3-0 comeback
“That was impressive, to come back from down three with 14 minutes to go? That says a lot,” Powers said. Just be proud of the team. That’s the epitome of resiliency, and that’s what we’re after here. “
Win caps bruiseng November slate for ASU – Arguably its biggest stretch of the season. The Sun Devils have split five straight series and finished the month with a 4-4-1 record, including heavyweights North Dakota, Miami (Ohio), Denver and Ohio State and now State.

“It’s one game at a time but I don’t know if you can’t get an inner belief after coming back like that against a really good team,” said Power. “We’re building a hell of a program here.”
After the win, Arizona State improves to 7-8-1 on the year. A quiet December awaits, with only four games on the schedule.
The sun demons quieted the third world coming back in the third period
In the first crucial moment, it was Andrase’s Freshman Jake Karabela who kicked the second offense.
It was the second penalty period filled, but only the blocks were able to score on their power play, with Adam Eisele scoring high.
The Sun Demons trailed 2-0 entering the third period and after Ezele’s second goal of the night early in the third period, they were still down 3-0.
Despite the deficit being erased, the Sun Demons were able to come back, taking away the Buckeyes’ lead. In the final period, it was Freshman Jack Beck, Sophomore Joel Kjellberg, Freshman Samuel Alfano and Sophomore Cullen Potter, who scored the game winner in overtime.
“I think we just had a lot of confidence in ourselves,” Potter said. “I felt that since we got this first goal, we were going to come back and get back into this game and hope to win it.”
Potter finished the night with a goal and an assist and helped tie the game in overtime when Asu called a timeout.
“Because of my speed, I think guys are trying to sit on me when I’m trying to get up,” Potter said. “It’s sad, and I know I can beat anyone on the ice, so we just pulled a spot on SHAM (Bennett Schimek), and I beat like we thought it was possible.”
Powers was recruited from ASU after Michigan State had no roster spot, and is now reaping the benefits.
“You’re growing up in such a sweet way right before our eyes,” Powers said. I’m very happy for him, and I’m proud of him, because he took a lot of flak cheaply. I think you will make Calgary look really smart. “
With the sweep, the Sun Devils enter a bye week after the weekend series against the Bucks, but after that, they will hit the road to take the No. 6 Minnesota Duluth.
“We always talk about the Sun Devils on Saturdays here, and you have to get your Saturday,” Powers said. “Tonight, our boys got their Saturday.”
