England midfielder Angel Gomes has announced he will leave French club Lille on a free transfer at the end of his contract this summer.
The 24-year-old, whoย won his first four senior capsย underย interim manager Lee Carsley last year, announced the decision on Instagram.
“Afterย fourย unforgettableย yearsย atย LOSCย Lille,ย it’sย timeย forย me toย sayย goodbye,” he said.
“Thisย clubย hasย beenย moreย thanย justย aย teamย –ย it’sย beenย aย family,ย aย home,ย andย a placeย thatย hasย shapedย meย bothย onย andย offย theย pitch.
“Likeย anyย journey,ย thereย wereย upsย andย downs,ย highsย andย lows,ย butย I’mย truly gratefulย toย myย team-matesย andย theย fansย forย stickingย withย meย throughout.”
A product of Manchester United’s academy, Gomes scored 10 goals and provided 19 assists in 134 Lille appearances across all competitions.
He joined the club from United in 2020, spending his first season on loan atย Portugueseย clubย Boavistaย beforeย establishingย himself in the French league.
Reports, external have linked him with a move back to Old Trafford, with Tottenham and West Ham also said to be interested.
