Coleman wishes, Brady Tkachuk talks and more NHL rumors – Hockey Writers – NHL Rumors

In today’s NHL rumors, we start with the Calgary Flames and how fake Blake Celleman is for being the most coveted player by other teams. Next, we look at the Ottawa Senators starting to get things ready for their Brady Tkachuk contract talks. We finish with the New Jersey Devils and Simon Nemec, who the New York Islanders were reportedly targeting in the offseason.

Coleman hails from Calgary

With all the potential excitement surrounding the Flames split from a 5 start to a 2-3 season, all eyes have been on Nazem Kadri and Rasmus Andersson when it comes to the trade market. Another player that many people are paying attention to is Coleman.

Since signing a six-year deal with the Flames, Coleman has continued to do many of the things he was signed to do, and more. He set a career high of 54 points in 2023-24, and had his second season last season with 39 points.

In fact, Coleman is the most perfect average in his career, even though his seven points are goals. On top of that, his production appears almost as strong, which is a big plus for interested parties.

Athletic Lebre’s Pierre Lebren wrote down everything he heard from around the league, saying:

It’s interesting that for all the speculation surrounding Andersson and Kadri, my understanding is that the player who has received the most attention from other teams is flourishing and other teams are flourishing. The teams are planting seeds, letting Flames GM Craig Conroy know that if it pleases Coleman, get in touch.

There would be a high demand for six middle wings. The case is a BIG PLUS, but it has received votes for the Selke Trophy in the past and has a monble deal as it has one year for a reasonable $4.9 million. There’s a lot to like about Coleman, and his dominance as a third-line winger in the playoffs has always given him a valuable reputation.

Any team looking to make a splash in the playoffs will be looking to bring in Coleman, and the Flames could get a good deal on him if they choose to move him.

Senators prepare contract pitch for Tkachuk

While Brady Tkachuk is eligible to sign a deal now, the Senators are doing everything they can to put themselves in the best possible position to get a deal.

While the rumors of Tkachuk may not end, and many show how things played out with the flames with his brother Matthew. There has been no indication that Brady is feeling good about his future with the Senators.

In his absence this season, now sitting at 16 games, the Senators are 8-4-4. That’s impressive enough on its own, but the fact that they can do this without a captain and one of their top players shows that they have a quality team and are looking at the playoffs.

In a recent episode of Barn Burner, Darren Dreger noted that “[Steve] Staios has done a real good job of making sure that all the core pieces around Brady Tkachuk are taken care of so that it’s a little easier when you’re in the difficult lifting of negotiating Brady”.

The Senators have nearly every major league lockout for at least a few seasons left. There is no easy offseason, but the Senators do not have many big contracts to sign in 2026, Drake Bagen and Thomas, Stake Pinto, and Tylan Pinto, and at least four will be a big selling point. The Senators’ contract situation looks pretty good, and the Staios could use that to convince Brady to stay.

The islanders came to Nemec above Offsuason

The islanders, like many other groups, do not have a deep selection of Defensensen protection on the right in the organization. And, like other teams, they knew the Devils had a good crop in the NHL, and many were on their way. Nemec’s development has been far from perfect, and his acquisition made sense in the offseason.

Arthur’s daily survival talked about NEMEC on the Tri-State Hockey Podcast (~ 18: 00) and he said that the people of the island called him.

General Managers Mathieu Darche and Tom Fitzgerald may have had a lot of discussions, but they used it basically that the first round position of the Colorado Avalanche was the highest asset they had, which they got through Brock Nenson. Prospects like Cal Ritchie, Kashawn Aitcheson, Cole Empund, and Victor Eklund were the type of assets the Demons would look for, but they were, understandably, skeptical.

NEMEC started at the beginning of the season, and is looking to stay in the NHL full time and take many who expected to know after the second selection in 2022.
