Youngest ever TM POTS winner

A huge congratulations is in order for 17-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal. Thanks to your voting, the Barcelona teenager has won the Transfermarkt LaLiga player of the season, and in doing so has become the youngest ever player to win a TM player of the season award in any league. Yamal has scored nine goals and provided 15 assists in 35 LaLiga games this season – the latter being the league record this term. The teenage talent has a current market value of €180 million and could even be set for a further rise in the upcoming LaLiga market value update. He picked up 42.2% of your votes to take a landslide victory.
The rest of the top five was also Barcelona heavy, with the LaLiga Champions laying claim to four of the top five players. Raphinha was second with 19.8% of the vote, followed by Real Madrid goal machine Kylian Mbappé in third with 18.3% of the vote. Pedri came fourth with 11.4%, whilst Robert Lewandowski completed the top five, having picked up 2.6% of the votes. While Yamal also won best attacker, Pedri won the most votes for the midfielder of the season, whilst fellow Barca youngster Pau Cubarsí won the defender award and Real Madrid shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois was the most voted keeper.
Previously four 18 year olds had won a TM player of the season award in Matthijs de Ligt in the Eredivisie, Wilfried Gnonto and Simone Pafundi in the Swiss Super League and Can Uzun in the Bundesliga 2, but at just 17 years old Yamal surpasses them all. The other winners in the top-five leagues were Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah in the Premier League, Inter Milan keeper Yann Sommer in Serie A, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane in the Bundesliga, and PSG forward Ousmane Dembélé in Ligue 1.
