Crowborough Beacon puts Ladies members in Spotlight – Golf News

The Crowborboaugh Beacon Club is cementing its position as a champion of women’s golf as it prepares to welcome a second cohort of students to its successful ladies’ golf advocate.
The sponsored program, which has four stages – which includes teaching courses, Golf Etiquette courses, rounds submitted by existing female members and social activities – aims to develop Golfers who are all suspected and emerge from the course.
An impressive 26 per cent of those who attended the first free taster culture were full members last year and the club expects to see a similar turnout in the future.
The success of the Ladies Festival
Ladies’ members also starred in the golf club’s festival back in June, which saw members and guests come together for six unforgettable days of sport and camaraderie. In total, more than 600 men and women played alongside each other in the club event across the club in all six events, with separate awards for the leaders of each division.
A highlight of the week was the beacon trophy and salver, a re-introduction of the iconic beacon structure which featured ladies competing alongside their male counterparts for the first time.
More involved in the women’s conference at the Club in the summer was the elderly Evelyn Parks, who studied practical golf courses in Birmingham and spent a lot of time at the club helping to implement some of its techniques.
Other unique incentives include new multi-year Ladies membership discounts (50 percent off the first year and 25 percent off crowfer beblath (edga) crowfer aunon incwas
Chris Dowrick, secretary at Crowroborboaugh Beacon Golf Club, said: “Encouraging women’s participation in golf and the club as a whole has been a major focus of ours in this area in recent years.

Crowboerboaugh Beacon is also set to host the Sussex Ladies Amateur Championship in 2026 and has been chosen by England Golf as the venue for the 2027 English Girl Porkeplay Championship, which has welcomed more than 40 countries.
Although famous designers including Harry Colt and Aliste Mackenzie have worked on the Crowborough Course since the club’s founding in 1895, the identity of the original designer remains unknown to this day.
Famous for its spectacular views and high-scoring views in Sussex, the club is known and loved by the famous writer and Sherlock Holmes DOYY, who served as captain in the early 20th century.
