Aberdeen fans are delighted with a 1-0 win over Hibernian that draws them level on points with the third-top visitors thanks to a goal from a former Easter Road striker.

Euan: Fantastic goal from Kevin Nisbet to secure the three points. It was a game that needed something special given the defensive displays from both teams.

Graham: Hibs came for a draw. We were pressing for a large part of the game and, although a little ropey at the back, it was a much better performance than last week at Hampden. Then, crucially, we saw the game out with little fuss.

Niall: This match was all about getting a win and the Dons delivered in some style with a touch of real class from Nisbet. This result should give a real sense of confidence to the Dons, who are looking more composed and threatening as a unit at just the right time. There were some shaky moments in defence during the first period, but there’s definitely desire within the squad, which is what will be needed to deliver as much as possible in the remaining games up to the cup final.

Fred: An important win, but a really dull match. We need to find a couple of forwards who can consistently score or we will struggle in Europe next season.

Stuart: Given the pressure the team were under to win the game, the performance was brilliant considering Hibs are clearly the in-form team at the moment.

Jim: Stunning goal and looked comfortable for most of the match. Couple chances for Hibs but nothing dangerous. Had worried it was going to be another dominant display with nothing to show – and up steps big Nisbet. Get him in on a permanent already.

Hibs stay in third on goal difference after their 17-game unbeaten run came to an end.

Sandy: We played well without finding that crucial finish. Jordan Smith was outstanding and he lost his series of clean sheets only to a good goal from an ex-Hibee. The run has ended, but I’m confident we will run again.

Michael: A really disappointing performance. Very tepid throughout the match I felt – and extremely lacklustre up top. I feel we played for a draw and it’s backfired. Hopefully it’s a blip and we can kick on next weekend.

George: Didn’t look like losing, nor winning either, as both huffed and puffed through the 90 minutes. Kevin Nisbet swings a foot out as he’s falling backwards, so for me a tad lucky. The 17 superior goal difference now looking handy though.

Pat: Possibly got this one wrong as felt we would happily settle for a draw only to forget about the curse of the ex-player. No need to be worried. We remain third with a significantly better goal difference.

Dave: David Gray should have kept with the same line-up he had the previous games. He changed it out of panic and it didn’t work. Leaving Junior Hoilett out was a big mistake.

Kenny: We played well at times but never looked dangerous in front of goal. The Aberdeen defence looked shaky, but we never took advantage. I have said from early on in the season we need a centre-forward. Four cup finals to go.

United are now down to fifth after a bruising home loss to the champions.

Jenny: Jim Goodwin’s awful team selection showed he didn’t expect to take anything from this game. Playing with one recognised centre-back was lunacy. Deciding not to give Declan Gallagher a new contract is already proving to be costly as he sat this one out on the bench when he would usually be playing. Mediocre performance from a mediocre team picked by a mediocre manager. United would have been as well not turning up and losing the three points. Shocking display and shocking management.

Dave: Horrible afternoon. Don’t really know what our aim was. Started well, then our momentum destroyed by the stupid “tangerine protest”. To lose 5-0 and not have a yellow card to our name also tells a story.

Kenny: What an absolutely awful performance by every player. Yes, Celtic were going for the points to win the league, but come on, at least make a game of it playing at home. We’ll be lucky to finish in fifth playing like that – a shocking performance. Half of the United fans left at half time. What does that tell the club and Goodwin?

Eddie: Baffling team selection and how Allan Campbell stays on the pitch is mystifying. Embarrassing performance that could have been even worse. You can’t put out that team against the runaway league champions and not get taught a lesson.

Andy: Team selection was wrong. Badly missed Gallagher and Campbell is a wasted jersey. Four cup finals now to chase third. David Babunski to start them all.

George: The defeat by Celtic was not unexpected, but losing five goals was a surprise. Four games to go to set things right. Then Jim has some recruiting to do before next season.

St Mirren are out of contention for European qualification, but the sixth-top side took all the plaudits from their draw with Rangers.

Pauline: St Mirren definitely played the better football and it feels like two points dropped.

Eddie: That was almost the perfect game, except we were extremely wasteful in front of goal. However, I can’t fault any player as they fought for every ball. It’s been an up-and-down season, but we have shown on our day we are a very good team. I’m looking forward already to next season.

Hugh: A great result for the Buddies, who are unbeaten in all three games with Rangers this season.

John: Two points dropped. Simple as that. When your main striker is gifted a free shot at goal and puts the ball yards over the bar, you want to scream. The result means that European football is probably beyond us. On the plus side, couldn’t fault the work rate and the two goals were excellent.

Thomas: Brilliant result again. Stephen Robinson would be well advised to stick with the Buddies if Hearts come looking for him. We’re in a much better position as a club than they are.
