Neymar to Barcelona? Surprise player urges Santos star to seal shock return: ‘You just have to convince Hansi Flick’

Barcelona’s Camp Nou has seen many legends come and go, but one name still echoes through its stands with a special resonance. Now, whispers around the corridors of power suggest a return may be in the works. Behind the scenes, a current first-team star is doing all he can to bring back a former idol — and it’s a move that could electrify fans and stir global headlines. However, one figure remains unconvinced, and his decision could determine whether the dream reunion becomes a reality.

The player in question? Neymar Jr., the Brazilian superstar who once dazzled in Barcelona colors as part of the unforgettable MSN trio alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. Neymar has made no secret of his desire to return to the club where he enjoyed “the happiest years” of his career, and he appears willing to do whatever it takes — even giving up a significant portion of his salary — to make that happen.

“His dream is to close the circle in Barcelona,” reports Sport, who also note that the Brazilian’s return is not being dismissed outright by club president Joan Laporta. In fact, the president is reportedly intrigued by the media and emotional impact of Neymar’s potential comeback.

But while Neymar dreams of a second act in Catalonia, head coach Hansi Flick remains a key obstacle. The German tactician respects Neymar’s technical quality but harbors doubts about his fitness, discipline, and potential impact on the squad’s unity.

Internal campaign led by a rising star

Enter Raphinha, one of Barcelona’s most influential players this season. The Brazilian winger, who has become a linchpin in Barca’s title challenge, is using his influence off the pitch as well. Raphinha has personally reached out to Neymar and is pushing internally to bring him back to the Camp Nou.

“We just have to convince Flick,” the 2025 Ballon d’Or contender reportedly said within club circles, per Sport. Leveraging his strong relationship with sporting director Deco and his own growing leadership role, Raphinha sees Neymar not just as a returning icon, but as a crucial third attacker who could support himself and Lamine Yamal in Barcelona’s evolving front line.

Deco is said to be actively searching for a high-level attacking reinforcement, and Neymar’s name fits the bill — if Flick can be persuaded.

Flick’s philosophy vs. nostalgic temptation

While fans dream of Neymar’s dazzling runs and audacious goals, Flick’s approach remains grounded in discipline and balance. The German has already impressed the dressing room with his man-management skills and vision, earning praise from Raphinha, who credited him with convincing him to stay at the club this summer.

“I stayed at Barca because of Flick. He told me I would be important in his plans. His human side, his impartiality… He aims to win with confidence,” the 28-year-old said in a recent interview.

Still, Flick’s concerns over Neymar’s physical reliability and past locker room issues are real. It’s not about talent — the 33-year-old has that in abundance — but whether he fits into a group-first culture Flick is trying to build.
